Privacy Policy
Effective 1 November 2026
This policy explains what information astrastudy (“we”, “us”) collects when you use astrastudy, why we collect it, who can see it, and the choices you have. We wrote it to be read by students as well as parents and teachers. If anything is unclear, email support@astrastudy.me.
The short version
- We collect what we need to run your account and your studying: your name, username, email, country, and your work on the site.
- We don't sell your information, show ads, or use advertising or tracking cookies.
- Your teacher sees the work you do for their class. Our administrators can see all accounts so they can run and support the service.
- During unit tests and mock exams, leaving the exam or copying and pasting is recorded and reported to your teacher.
- You can download or permanently delete your data at any time in Settings.
- You must be at least 13 to use astrastudy.
1. Information we collect
Account details. When you sign up we collect your first and last name, a username, your email address, your country, and whether you're a student or a teacher (Admin). Your password is stored only in scrambled (hashed) form by our sign-in provider; we can't see it.
Study settings. Things you choose, such as your target score, exam date, study days and hours, time zone, display preferences and whether you appear on class leaderboards.
Your work and progress. Lessons you complete, questions you answer and your answers, scores and grades, written (free-response) answers, flashcard reviews, bookmarks, study-plan tasks, points (XP) and streaks, and any question sets or notes you create.
Class information. Classes you create or ask to join, whether your teacher allowed you in, work assigned to your class, and grades and comments your teacher records.
Exam integrity records. During unit tests and mock exams we record when you leave the exam (for example, switching tabs or apps, going to the home screen, or exiting full screen on a computer) and attempts to copy, paste or use shortcuts, with the time of each. Your teacher sees these reports.
Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting providers process your IP address and basic device and browser information to deliver the site and keep it secure. We also record the IP addresses of administrator sign-in attempts to block password guessing.
We don't ask for sensitive information such as health details, and you shouldn't include it in anything you write on the site.
2. How we use it
- To create and run your account, and keep you signed in.
- To provide lessons, practice, exams, flashcards, your study plan, and your progress and results.
- To let teachers run their classes: approve students, assign work, see results and keep a gradebook.
- To protect the fairness of exams and the security of the site, and to prevent misuse.
- To answer your messages and send essential account emails, such as password resets.
- To improve our content, using statistics combined across many users (for example, which questions people find hardest).
- To meet legal obligations.
We don't sell or rent your information, we don't show advertising, and we don't use your information to build advertising profiles.
3. Who can see your information
Your teachers. If you join a class, its teacher (Admin) can see your name and username, the work you do for that class, your answers, scores and grades, and exam integrity reports. Teachers only see students in their own classes.
Your classmates. Classmates can see your display name and points on your class leaderboard, unless you turn “Show me on my class leaderboards” off in Settings.
Our administrators. A small number of astrastudy administrators can access all accounts and data so they can run, support and secure the service. This includes viewing exams while they are in progress, and correcting or changing answers, scores, grades and other records.
Service providers. We use trusted companies to run the site: Supabase (database and sign-in), Vercel (website hosting) and an email delivery service for account emails. They process information only on our instructions and must protect it.
When the law requires it. We may share information if required by law, or to protect the safety, rights or property of our users, the public or astrastudy.
If astrastudy changes hands. If astrastudy is transferred to a new operator, your information may be transferred with it, and this policy will continue to apply until you're told otherwise.
4. Where your information is stored
Our service providers may store and process information on servers outside the United Arab Emirates, including in the United States or the European Union. When that happens we rely on the providers' contractual and security safeguards to protect it.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your account and your work from our live systems straight away; copies in backups are removed on the providers' normal backup schedule, usually within 30 days. Records of administrator sign-in attempts are deleted after 30 days. We may keep information longer only where the law requires it.
7. Your choices and rights
- See and download your data: Settings → Export my data.
- Correct it: update your details in Settings, or email us.
- Delete it: Settings → Delete my account removes your account and your work permanently.
- Leave a class at any time from the class page.
- Leaderboards: turn “Show me on my class leaderboards” off in Settings.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to ask us what information we hold about you, to object to or restrict how we use it, or to complain to a data protection authority. Email support@astrastudy.me and we'll respond within 30 days.
8. Children and teens
astrastudy is for people aged 13 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If we learn that someone under 13 has created an account, we'll delete it.
If you're under 18, please review this policy with a parent or guardian. Parents and guardians can email support@astrastudy.me to ask about, get a copy of, or delete their child's information.
9. Teachers and schools
Teachers who use astrastudy with their students are responsible for making sure they're allowed to under their school's rules, and for using students' information only for teaching. Teacher (Admin) accounts are reviewed before they're activated, and students only join a class when its teacher allows them in.
10. Security
We protect information with encrypted connections, hashed passwords, access controls that limit each person to the data they're allowed to see, and limits on repeated sign-in attempts. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password that you don't use anywhere else, and tell us right away at support@astrastudy.me if you think your account has been misused.
11. Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we'll post the new policy here with a new effective date and tell you on the site or by email before the changes apply.
